New Student IT Checklist

Are you and your computer ready for school? Here are 10 easy steps to help you prepare.
  • Get the complete picture on Aggieland at Howdy, Texas A&M's web portal that connects you to your university records, email, and important links with one login.
  • Activate your Open Access Labs account. Go to the Student Computing Center during your conference, or visit OAL Account Activation page.
  • Sign up for Code Maroon, the campus emergency notification service.
  • Set up Self-Service Password Reset so that you can reset your password if you forget it or need a new one.
  • Sign up for eDelegate/Parent Access in the "My Record" tab in Howdy. This lets your parent/guardian view financial aid and academic records, and see (and pay) your bills.
  • Buy an extra-long (15-20 feet) Ethernet patch cable for connecting to ResNet in the dorms.
  • Get antivirus software at no charge after registering for classes. Check out other discounted software like Microsoft and Adobe products at software.tamu.edu.
  • Set up your computer for automatic system updates. Read more at Protecting Desktops and Laptops.
  • Get your laptop ready for TAMULink campus wireless access.
  • Check your Texas A&M Gmail regularly.
  • Follow "TAMU_IT" on Twitter for news and updates.
