The IT accessibility team offers training by request for procurement of Electronic and Information Resources (EIR).

The sessions provide a background of laws, policies, and standards as well as the specific steps involved in EIR accessibility compliance reviews to keep you on track and in compliance with state and federal laws. From explaining Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) to exceptions to vendor interactions, the team can equip you with a fundamental knowledge to aid with future EIR acquisitions.

The team also offers web accessibility training courses through TrainTraq every other month, which include:

  • Web Accessibility Essentials – participants get a hands-on experience to better understand how people with disabilities use the web including demos of common assistive technologies.
  • Web Accessibility Advanced – participants review the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA standards and focus on common accessibility barriers, example code snippets, and strategies to maximize accessibility for campus websites.

Accessibility compliance assessments for websites and applications are also available by request. A final report contains a list of issues, the standards by which each is measured, and resources to help resolve the issues. After issues are addressed by the specific unit, a follow up and re-evaluation is performed to wrap up the review.
