Overview

Twisted Pair

Texas A&M Division of Information Technology will wire twisted pair connections based on Category 5e wire to distribution equipment within a department following our wiring standards. This distribution equipment must also be approved by the Division of IT. The department will be responsible for purchasing the needed distribution equipment and maintaining it. If the equipment fails, it is the department's responsibility to have it repaired. The department must agree that all physical maintenance and configuration of the wiring will be performed by the Division of IT.

Fiber Optic

The Division of IT will install multimode fiber optic connections to desktops within a department following our fiber standards. The department will be responsible for purchasing the needed distribution equipment and maintaining it. If the equipment fails, it is the department's responsibility to have it repaired. The department must agree that all physical maintenance and configuration of the fiber optics will be performed by the Division of IT. The cost per connection includes one 3 meter ST/ST jumper.

Additional Details

Costs to departments reflect cabling supplies and labor associated with installations. the Division of IT will maintain the wiring at no cost, but equipment problem diagnosis will be billed on the standard hourly basis.
