Associate Director, Cloud & Platform Security
As the Associate Director of Cloud & Platform Security, you will plan and direct cybersecurity strategy related to all cloud infrastructure and large SaaS platforms at Texas A&M University. You will serve as the principal technical expert on all aspects of security related to cloud infrastructure, such as fundamental Internet protocols and major public cloud platforms. You will lead and mentor technical staff, and collaborate with key stakeholders across campus to guide the university toward cutting-edge, secure cloud computing practices.
Required education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience; eight years of enterprise-level managerial experience. This position is onsite at the campus in College Station, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Development and Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and expand a talented team of engineers responsible for the security work and manage the tools and platforms that are provided by the team. Foster an environment of growth, innovation, and excellence within the team.
Stakeholder Engagement: Actively engage with stakeholders across the university to advocate for best security practices, educate on secure computing approaches, and collaboratively plan long-term strategies for cloud security. Work closely with IT, academic, and research departments to ensure their needs are met securely and efficiently.
Security Strategy and Innovation: Design, build, and maintain tools and sample code to enable operations groups to consume various security services in a self-service manner. Stay ahead of emerging security threats and technologies to continuously improve the university's cloud security posture.
Salary range: $124,000–$132,000 commensurate with education and experience
Security Analyst (multiple opportunities)
The Security Operations & Forensics team is looking for security analysts with a strong background in networking fundamentals to help protect and secure our campus network. A strong candidate will have experience with segmentation, routing, firewalls, the OSI stack, along with basic scripting/programming. You will work closely with the networking group on the Next-Generation Aggie Network. Frequently used tools include Cisco Umbrella, PaloAlto Panorama, Extrahop NTA, Elastic Security SIEM, and other standard Linux and Windows administration tools.
These are on-site positions in College Station, TX and typically Monday-Friday.

A Level 1 Security Analyst serves as the first line of defense in the Texas A&M Security Team. This role is crucial for maintaining the day-to-day security posture of the organization and requires keen attention to detail and a foundational understanding of information security principles.- Monitor security systems for anomalies and malicious activities
- Execute initial analysis of security events and escalate as needed
- Maintain logs and documentation of security incidents
- Assist in the enforcement of security policies and procedures
Salary range: $57,000–$68,000
- Level 2 – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of related experience.
A Level 2 Security Analyst plays a key role in the incident response process, dealing with more complex issues. Participant in projects that create new security solutions and platforms.- Perform in-depth analysis of complex security alerts and incident data
- Develop and follow incident response protocols and mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with other teams to resolve cross-functional security issues
- Contribute to the tuning and refining of security tools and systems
Salary range: $68,000–$82,000
- Level 3 – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of related experience.
A Level 3 Security Analyst is responsible for the proactive management of cybersecurity threats and oversees the strategic implementation of security solutions. They are leaders within the security team, often tasked with supervising projects and mentoring junior staff and students.- Responsible for proactive management of cybersecurity threats
