AIP FAQs

How do I purchase cloud services through AIP?

Purchases for AIP cloud services will ultimately be made through ServiceNow and the AggieBuy system.

The requestor will provide the following information during the process:

  • Name of requester/primary owner for the account
  • FAMIS Account number (including part#, account code and cost center)
  • Name for the account to be created. Naming conventions will include:
    Agency - College/Unit - Description
  • Dollar amount of services desired from the selected provider

Once a PO is established through AggieBuy, the appropriate access will be set up within the cloud provider and communicated to the requester.

How do I know how much has been billed to my account and for what services?

  • Requesters will have access to billing information within the cloud services provider, it is also recommended to set up quotas and notifications.
  • AIP has chosen a vendor to provide consolidated billing and reporting. Requesters will have access to their accounts for monitoring of expenditures.

When will I be charged for incurred expenses?

  • The cloud provider will invoice AIP at the end of each calendar month.
  • AIP will review costs incurred by the requester and submit an invoice for payment through AggieBuy against the PO number.

Is there a charge for consulting or support?

AIP does not currently charge for assisting campus community members for consulting or support provided. For a deeper dive or more complex scope of work, a custom engagement can be negotiated.

Is AIP available to students?

No. Public Cloud providers Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform, offer a variety of resources for Texas A&M students. These resources allow students to learn and use cloud resources with little or no cost. For a list of cloud resources available to students visit the Knowledge Base.
