Texas A&M Gmail

Texas A&M Gmail is the official email for all Texas A&M University students. University members can request an account to collaborate with students. Staff eligibility is determined at the department level.

Texas A&M Chat

You can use Texas A&M Chat to send a direct message or create a group chat. Chat includes advanced features such as video calling, notification tools, message formatting and threaded spaces. Chats are synced automatically across devices, so you can start a message in Chat on your computer and continue on another device, like your phone.

Google Calendar is a time-management web application that allows university members to view and organize your schedule across multiple devices, keep track of your important meetings and events, share your calendar with others and much more.

Texas A&M My Drive / Shared Drive

Google My Drive is a storage service that lets individuals securely store, access and share personal files. All files are deleted when you leave the university, including files that you've shared with others.

  • Undergraduate students and staff receive 25 GB of storage.
  • Graduate students and faculty receive 100 GB of storage.

Google Shared Drive files belong to the team instead of an individual. Even if members leave, the files stay in the Shared Drive so your team can keep sharing information and work anywhere, from any device.

  • Texas A&M Shared Drives have a 25GB storage limit.

University units may expand the quota of a Shared Drive by completing a Storage Quota Increase Request in the IT Service Portal.

Texas A&M Gemini

Texas A&M campus members have access to Google Gemini with data protection, a more secure alternative to the consumer version of Gemini (Google's generative AI). Google Gemini, is an AI tool that assists with generating text, summarizing information, providing insights, and combining various types of information—such as text, images, or code—to enhance education and work tasks.

When logged in with your Texas A&M account, data shared with Google Gemini is not shared with Google. This helps ensure university data will not be used to train or improve any generative AI models or reviewed by humans.

To get started with Google Gemini with data protection, go to gemini.google.com and log in with your @tamu.edu email address and password. A shield icon will appear in the prompt field when you are logged in.

Texas A&M NotebookLM (powered by Google) is an advanced AI tool designed to enhance academic research and productivity. Texas A&M Google AI Pro

Texas A&M campus employees can purchase a Google AI Pro license, which includes data protection—making it a more secure option than the paid consumer version.

Google AI Pro is a suite of advanced generative AI models designed to support a wide range of tasks. It offers enhanced performance, can process longer documents and chat conversations, remembers more details and provides advanced reasoning capabilities. These features go beyond what is available in the free Gemini experience offered by Texas A&M.

Once you have purchased Google AI Pro with data protection, go to gemini.google.com and log in with your @tamu.edu email address and password. The word "Pro" is appear near your profile circle and a shield icon will appear in the prompt field when you are logged in meaning your chat and personal information are protected.

Texas A&M Groups

Texas A&M Groups gives easy access to online discussions through mailing lists or online forms. It is great for use by project teams or groups of student organizations. A group is an online environment where group members can discuss items related to a specific subject. A group can contain multiple topics. Topics are different discussions related to the group's subject. Topics can contain multiple posts. Posts are replies from readers on the topic.
