The DMPTool features a step-by-step process for creating a data management plan that complies with requirements for various funders. It includes direct links to funder websites, contextual help and resources for best practices regarding data management.

Used by nearly 50,000 participants at over 270 institutions, the DMPTool has been hosted by the University of California Curation Center and the California Digital Library as an open-source project since 2010.

Help is available from the University Libraries for Research Data Management, which involves organizing, documenting, storing, sharing and preserving data gathered for research projects.
