William Deigaard serves at the Associate Vice President for IT Architecture and Design at Texas A&M University. William obtained his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and English and a master’s degree in business administration from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Before joining Texas A&M as the Enterprise IT Architect in 2018, William was the Director of Networking, Data Center Operations, and IT Facilities at Rice University. During his 26-year tenure at Rice, William led teams from design through implementation of two complete campus network designs (RiceNet2, 2004, and RiceNet3, 2015) that greatly improved the university’s ability to support campus operations and research. He also spearheaded the development of all aspects of Rice’s data center operations, including a purpose-built data center that opened in 2008 and has operated continuously without disruption since then, despite hurricanes, tropical storms, and utility power outages.
In his role as Associate VP, William is leading teams that support all Technology Services systems operations and projects focused on developing and improving enterprise technologies and end-to-end solutions. William will also partner with colleges and divisions to define, develop and execute our IT strategy for all our shared services across the University, including transforming the University's use of cloud technologies and platforms. William also oversees virtualization and storage infrastructures, mainframe systems and the campus data centers.
