Ransomware attacks are on the rise, with criminals encrypting files on a computer system or network and demanding money to restore the data. How crippling is such malware and how can it be avoided?
The latest episode of "Technically Speaking TV" looks at ransomware and how 23 Texas entities were compromised in 2019. Jackson County Judge Jill Sklar, who dealt with one of the attacks, explains the event and how it affected local government operations. Andy Bennett, deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the Texas Department of Information Resources, details the state's investigation and measures being taken to prevent ransomware.
