This month, the Texas A&M Cybersecurity Club welcomed guest speaker and Director of Information Technology for Texas A&M Health, Dr. Joshua Kissee.
Kissee presented on the topic: “Cloud + Sensitive Data: A Recipe for Success or Impending Doom?”.
His presentation placed particular emphasis on connections in modern technology, focusing on the question, “Are these areas future leaders in cybersecurity can begin exploring?”
The answer? Absolutely.
While the topic was complex, the discussion was revolutionary for the Cybersecurity Club.
“These are incredibly smart and talented Aggies. I’m impressed they are already exploring the concept of the shared responsibility model in the cloud," states Kissee. "This could be a game changer as they prepare to enter the cybersecurity field. The future of cybersecurity will require informed leaders who prioritize security in the cloud and recognize and follow best practices.”
The Division of IT is committed to providing Aggies with tools and services they need to succeed and equipping them to harness these tools as they build our future. Kissee takes this mission to heart, and is helping instill this knowledge in Texas A&M students to aid their exploration of a career in IT and cybersecurity.
External Relations Officer for the Cybersecurity Club, Jacob Kastenschmidt, shared how engaging and impactful Kissee’s presentation was for the group.
“I am grateful members of the club were able to learn from a professional about industry insights and cybersecurity skills.”
Kastenschmidt emphasized that the Cybersecurity Club is excited to “become effective young cybersecurity professionals and future industry leaders.” The club hopes to collaborate with other Division of IT employees to achieve their goals and become even more knowledgeable in the field.
