Texas A&M University Technology Services made many advancements in 2022. These achievements have been highlighted in the annual report, “United”, outlining the progress made in the previous year and future plans for continuous improvement.
Within the last year, Technology Services focused on unifying IT across campus and grew its team from approximately 300 employees to a team of more than 800. Along with an increased team size, career opportunities will be expanded for staff and student workers. By defining career paths for all employees and creating more entry-level positions for students post graduation, Technology Services aims to develop a pipeline of talent to meet current and future technology demands.
In addition, the benefits of unification efforts already taking shape are featured. A $64 million 6E Wi-Fi project is underway to transform the campus digital experience by providing faster, consistent wireless access through the Next-Generation Aggie Network. Cloud service offerings were expanded, the cybersecurity framework and infrastructure continues to be strengthened, and several software and hardware offerings are being streamlined, including Adobe Creative Cloud and Cisco VoIP phone systems campuswide. Future initiatives include a unified ticketing system and support model, and TechHub, a centralized store for hardware purchases. These enterprise solutions will set a standard of excellence for Texas A&M while streamlining support, increasing efficiencies and reducing costs.
