Overview

Technology Services provides campus phone service through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Customers must use a supported Cisco VoIP phone to receive phone service.

Getting Started

A list of supported Cisco phone models and potential vendors is available. To help you choose the best device for your needs, please review the Cisco VoIP devices featured in the Cisco Options at a Glance PDF.

Once you have a compatible Cisco VoIP phone, email the completed VoIP Service Order Form to tcom-request@tamu.edu.

If you are a TAMU Health employee, please email HealthTechCare@tamu.edu for any phone support requests.

Special Requests

If you are requesting more than one phone installation, use our VoIP Service Order Summary Form. For expansion module programming, complete and attach the VoIP Phone Expansion Module Program Sheet.

For complex service requests email tcom-request@tamu.edu to set up a meeting, ask questions or talk through the details of your needs.

Service Details

VoIP phones plug into the campus wired network just like a computer, receive power from the network port, and also accommodate an extra network jack on the back of the phone if you need to also plug in your computer/docking station. Both your phone and your computer both share the same network port!

Features

Self-Service Options

Cisco VoIp phones can be managed remotely. Instructions are available via the instructions download.

  • Call Forwarding: Forward calls from your office phone to your cell phone. 
  • Voicemail: Check your office voicemail from off campus or in email format. 
  • Jabber Softphone: Place and receive calls on your computer just like you’re at your office desk. Learn how to install Jabber.

Surplus a phone: Work directly with your unit or department's Property Manager or Accountable Property Officer to surplus unwanted phones.
