Overview
TAMU WiFi is Texas A&M's campus wireless network, located in classrooms, offices, libraries, eateries and other locations.
Connecting to wireless on campus
Note: TAMU_WiFi, TAMU_Visitor, and eduroam are the only centrally-supported Texas A&M wireless services. Avoid connecting to other wireless networks if you do not know who provides them.
TAMU WiFi Locations
TAMU WiFi is available in all classroom buildings, residence halls, dining areas and libraries on campus, as well as office buildings and some off-campus locations. See the complete list of TAMU WiFi locations.

Cost
See General Computing Rates for TAMUS, Non-TAMUS, and Auxiliary Rates.
TAMU WiFi is provided at no charge for Texas A&M Students, faculty, staff and sponsored guests.
To request installation of Wireless LAN coverage for a new area, or to expand existing coverage, send an email to request@tamu.edu. To determine cost, a site-survey will be done for each case.
Request
To determine cost, a site-survey will be done for each case. Many considerations are involved in determining the number of wireless access points needed for the desired coverage. Building construction, area to be covered, shape of the building, and throughput capacity are just some of the variables that can make a significant difference in the number of access points necessary.
Requests for wireless service within departmental networks (those not maintained by Texas A&M Technology Services) must have their Radio Frequency (RF) footprints and authentication methods approved.
Requests for wireless service for stand-alone networks (no access to campus or Internet) must be approved as to RF footprint and addressing, channel assignments and security.

Guidelines
Requests for wireless service in the Technology Services-maintained building networks must be engineered and provided by Technology Services. Requests for wireless service within departmental networks (those not maintained by Technology Services) must have their Radio Frequency (RF) footprints and authentication methods approved. No departmental wireless coverage is allowed outside a building. There may be an engineering fee depending on the amount of work necessary to review the departmental wireless network proposal. If a departmental network is housed in a building shared with another department, then Technology Services must install, maintain and operate the wireless network. Proposals or requests for information regarding departmental wireless networks should be sent via email to consult@tamu.edu.
Requests for wireless service for stand-alone networks (no access to campus or Internet) must be approved by Technology Services as to RF footprint and addressing, channel assignments and security. No wireless coverage is allowed outside a building and overlap between wireless cells will be arbitrated by Technology Services. Proposals or requests for information regarding stand-alone wireless networks should be sent via email to consult@tamu.edu.
If an unauthorized access point anywhere on the network is located, Technology Services will attempt to contact the owner(s) and direct them to Network Acceptable Use to review current policies and practices for network installations. We will ask them to remove the device and let them know their port will be deactivated if the device is found again. In the event an access point is found and no owner can be located, we will disable the port, power off the device and contact the NIM-registered owner of the IP being used.
