Overview
Google Apps for Texas A&M provides a suite of web-based, integrated communication and collaboration tools. All students receive an account. Faculty can request an account to collaborate with students. Staff eligibility is determined at the department level. Included are:
- Texas A&M Gmail (the official email system for students)
- Google Calendar
- Google Drive
- Google Groups
- Texas A&M Chat
- Google Sites
Getting Started
Access Google Apps at Texas A&M by visiting Google.tamu.edu, selecting an app and logging in with your NetID and password. To claim or request an account visit Gateway.tamu.edu. To learn how to request an account, visit the Claiming a Texas A&M University Gmail Account page in the Knowledge Base.
Data Storage and Compliance
Both FERPA and HIPAA data can be stored in Google Apps at Texas A&M. Texas A&M University has a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) in place with Google and the data is encrypted both in transit and at rest (storage).

Storage Quotas
My Drive
- Undergraduate students and staff receive 25 GB of storage.
- Graduate students and faculty receive 100 GB of storage.
Shared Drives
- Shared Drives will be given a 25 GB quota.
University units may expand the quota of an existing Google Shared Drive by purchasing a higher storage quota.
