A federation is an association of organizations that come together to exchange information as appropriate about their users and resources to enable collaborations and transactions. It allows authorized campus individuals to use local campus electronic credentials to access shared protected services and resources.

Texas A&M is currently a member of three federations:

The InCommon Federation

The InCommon Federation is a federation of higher education and federal government institutions, along with partner organizations.

The Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN) is a federation of State of Texas higher education institutions.

The TAMUFederation is the A&M System identity management federation. The TAMUFederation enables authorized campus individuals to use their local campus electronic credential to gain access to participating services (resource providers) throughout the A&M System.
